CCI Comment Policy
COMMENT POLICYClay County Intel runs on trust. That means the comment section stays open, even when what people say is uncomfortable for me or for somebody I have covered. Here is how it works.WHAT STAYS UPCriticism of Clay County Intel, of me, or of how I covered something.Criticism of businesses, developers, agencies, and public officials.Your own experience as a customer, resident, employee, or member of the community, described as your experience.Disagreement of any kind, including the blunt kind. You do not have to agree with me, the people I cover, or each other to participate here.WHAT COMES DOWNThreats of violence toward anyone.Harassment of a specific person.Slurs and attacks based on race, religion, sex, or similar protected characteristics.Doxxing, which means posting someone's private address, phone number, family details, or other private personal information.Spam, scams, and impersonation.Unverified allegations of criminal conduct against a specific identifiable person or business. That last one is worth explaining. There is a difference between describing your own experience and making a serious factual accusation about someone else.If you ate at a restaurant and became sick afterward, you can say that. It is your experience. If you worked somewhere and believe you were treated badly, you can say that too.But claiming a restaurant knowingly serves contaminated food, accusing a business of fraud, or accusing a specific employee of a crime is different. Those are serious factual allegations that can follow a person or business for years.I am not going to host allegations like that based solely on the word of an account I cannot verify. If you have information like that and believe it is true, send it to [email protected] instead. Include whatever documentation or evidence you have. I read everything that comes in.I cannot promise coverage, and most tips will not become stories. But a serious allegation I can actually look into is worth more than a comment nobody can check.WHAT I DO NOT DOI do not remove comments because a business asked me to.I do not remove comments because an official asked me to.I do not remove comments because they make somebody I know look bad.I do not remove comments because they are critical of me.The same rules apply whether the comment is about someone I agree with, disagree with, know personally, or have never met.If this policy ever changes, this page changes with it.ABOUT PLATFORM FILTERSFacebook, TikTok, and Instagram use automatic moderation and spam filters that can hide comments without me removing them.Sometimes those filters get it wrong. If your comment disappeared and you do not think it violated this policy, it may have been caught by a platform filter. Email me and I will check.APPEALSIf your comment was removed and you think I got it wrong, email [email protected].Tell me which post it was on and roughly what you said. I will look at it again and tell you either way.Last updated August 2026.
